ecsc was founded in 1982, to advance the knowledge and application of energy efficiency and renewable energy, particularly solar.

Even before the issue of harmful climate change became widely known, the creators of ecsc believed that our society's dependence on fossil fuels must be reduced.

The original aim of ecsc was to provide a practical means to cut the use of energy in buildings and increase the use of energy from renewable sources.

Since then, ecsc has evolved to tackle the human side of the sustainable energy question. In particular, ecsc has lead the way in creating new and innovative projects to ensure that people disadvantaged in our society enjoy warmer, healthier and more comfortable homes, and reduce their expensive dependence on fossil fuels.
