Training

ecsc has been delivering innovative training programmes in sustainable energy for more than 20 years.

ecsc has provided training for well over 1500 frontline workers in both energy efficiency and fuel poverty over the past 20 years. This training and support looks at providing a valuable service to residents aimed at improving their comfort and well being through energy advice and grants for energy efficiency measures for their home.

Training in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

ECSC offers free fuel poverty training for community, local authority and health workers within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. This training details the importance of energy efficiency in residential properties along with highlighting the various forms of assistance available for residents from grants and advice provision. Training will be delivered on location and all trainees will be provided with a fuel poverty manual to enable them to put their new skills into practice.

Training of community staff

This training has occurred throughout many of the projects that we manage for both local authorities and utility companies. An example of a more recent project would be The energycare Network. Over the course of the project more than 800 frontline staff were provided with training and more than 300 of these staff remain active members of the network. So far the project has assisted over 23,000 people across the South East. Annex B details the types of training sessions that are offered for this project.

Training of local authority staff

ECSC in partnership with the City of Westminster Council organised a training session for their Environmental Health Department. This training detailed the importance of energy efficiency in residential properties along with highlighting the various forms assistance available for residents from grants and advice provision. This was repeated in the same format with the Brighton and Hove City Council's private sector housing team. The training used a series of case studies to highlight potential problems and issues. These were then discussed in small groups with the various solutions outlined at the end of the training session.

Training of health workers

The 'Keep the home fires burning' project specifically works in partnership with a local health authority to train staff in energy efficiency and fuel poverty issues and solutions. The South Downs Trust has supported the project since May 2004, with over 30 health workers having received training.

Each training delegate receives a detailed pack covering all aspects of the training covered in the sessions.

Depending on budgets these training packs can be designed to a very high specification using folders with changeable inserts.
