Local and Regional Government - Strategic Support and Services

The software toolkit supports the evaluation of planning applications against sustainable energy assessment criteria.
It follows a step by step process to:
- Estimate a baseline for the predicted energy / CO2 performance of a development
- Revise the baseline on the basis of energy efficiency enhancements
- Set a renewable energy target for the development
- Assess the effectiveness and cost of different renewable energy technologies in meeting the target
Planners Support – Tools and Training
Planning policy is playing
an increasingly important role in the uptake of renewable energy in new developments: this is evident in the introduction of renewable energy assessment criteria and targets for planning applications.
As part of he South East Sustainable Energy Partnership Business Plan 2006– 7, ecsc have been funded to support planning professionals in Surrey and Sussex in the practical application of renewable energy policies. To meet this objective, ecsc has devised a software toolkit / methodology and hands-on training course to underpin the compliance process.
