Individuals
Every year UK homes produce around six tonnes of carbon dioxide each. If every home took up relatively simple energy efficiency measures and practices this would be cut by two tonnes. If everyone with gas central heating installed a new condensing boiler, we'd cut emissions by 11.8 million tonnes. We'd also save £1.2 billion per year on our energy bills and enough energy to heat over 3 million homes for a year.
ecsc has been advising the residential sector on home energy efficiency and renewables for over twenty years on behalf of local authorities and nationally funded schemes. Below are some examples of the sustainale energy projects that ecsc are currently running:
Surrey and East Sussex Energy Efficiency Advice Centre
The SESEEAC is one of 52 energy advice centres across the UK. SESEEAC provides free, impartial and locally relevant advice to householders in Surrey and East Sussex on energy efficiency measures and renewable energy technologies/grants.
Climate Benefits
Climate Benefits has been set up by ecsc to help individuals make a difference by saving energy at home. ecsc provides free and impartial advice on a range of energy related topics, then gives individuals a way to take action on them.
Healthy Homes
Healthy Homes operates throughout the City of Westminster and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and provides domestic energy efficiency measures to residents whose health, in the opinion of frontline health workers, would improve significantly from dryer and warmer homes.
Keep the Home Fires Burning
The Keep the Home Fires Burning scheme operates in Brighton and Hove and is a partnership between South Downs NHS Health Trust, the Energy Centre for Sustainable Communities, Anchor Staying Put and Brighton and Hove Council. The scheme aims to improve the health of vulnerable householders by improving the energy efficiency and general condition of their homes.
